SCMS Football Beats Hart Co., 22-8

The Stephens County Middle School football team is one win away from a conference championship.

Saturday night, the Rebels defeated Hart County 22-8 at the Reservation to pick up their fourth win of the season.

All of the scoring took place in the first half.

Tracy Lowery led the way for the Rebels, scoring two touchdowns.

Lowery’s 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter gave Stephens County the lead.

Then, with time expiring in the second quarter, Lowery returned a kick-off 70 yards to give Stephens County a two-touchdown lead it would not relinquish.

Ty Kellar scored the other touchdown for Stephens County midway through the second quarter on a 77-yard run.

Hart County’s lone touchdown came just before Lowery’s kick-off return on a 60-yard fumble recovery and run-back.

With the win, the Rebels improve to 4-1 on the season.

Stephens County Middle School will play Franklin County Saturday night in Carnesville for the conference championship in the Rebels’ final game of the season.

Kick-off Saturday night will be at 6 p.m. in Carnesville.
