SCMS Basketball Season Ends

Basketball season is over at Stephens County Middle School.

On Tuesday, the 8th grade boys fell in their conference championship game to Madison County, 45-37. Mucha Wiley had 14 points to lead the Rebels in the finals.

The 8th grade boys got to the final by beating Franklin County on Saturday, 40-29. Wiley had 18 points and Nigel Green had 13 points in the semi-final game.

This year, the 8th grade boys finished 7-6 overall and 7-3 in the league.

Also making the championship was the 7th grade girls’ team.

The Lady Rebels lost to Franklin in the finals on Monday, 34-25. Breanna Taylor had 11 points in the final to lead the Lady Rebels.

The 7th grade girls made the finals by winning a semi-final game over Hart, 54-28. Taylor had 18 points in the semi-finals and Tynajiah Eades had 11 points.

This year, the 7th grade girls finished first in the regular season and second in the tournament.

Elsewhere, the 8th grade girls’ season came to an end in the semi-finals with a loss to Hart, 39-27. Brooklyn Deshazer scored 12 points.

Finally, the 7th grade boys lost in the tournament’s first round last week by a score of 48-27 to Franklin County. Kenny Colwell had 11 points and Malachi Colbert scored nine points to lead the 7th grade boys, who finished the season 1-9.
