SCHS Sweeps White Co. in Basketball

Tay Jones scored 16 of his team-leading 22 points in the second half and Jackson Bell made 9 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter to lead the Stephens County Indians to a come from behind 72-68 win at White County Tuesday night.

Deundra Singleton added 16 points for Stephens County, who trailed by as many as 11 points before coming back.

With the win, Stephens County’s boys move to 4-0 in the region and 16-4 overall.

In the girls’ game, Mya Cleveland made two free throws with six seconds left to secure a 36-33 win for the Lady Indians over White County.

Cleveland and Kentasia Trimier each had nine points and Tykia Thompson added eight points for the Lady Indians, who are now 2-2 in the region and 7-13 overall.

Both teams are back in action Thursday at home against Buford with air time at 4:45 p.m. and the girls’ game at 5 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow.
