SCHS Sweeps Monroe Area in Region Basketball

Lexie Cash scored 12 of her 14 points in the first period to help lead the Stephens County Lady Indians to a 45-29 win Tuesday over Monroe Area in region girls’ basketball at the Currahee Arena.

Mya Cleveland and Emily Mote each chipped in eight points for Stephens County.

The win was the third region win in a row for the Lady Indians, who won their 14th game overall and fifth in region play.

Meanwhile, the Stephens County boys won their first region game of the year with a convincing 73-59 win over Monroe Area’s Purple Hurricanes.

The Indians led 9-0 to start the game and never trailed.

Josh Slate led Stephens County with 19 points, while Tay Jones had 18 points and Tavoris Davis added 14 points.

The Indians are now 4-20 overall and 1-6 in region play.

StephensCounty wraps up the regular season at home Thursday when Chestatee visits the Currahee Arena.
