SCHS Splits With Lanier in Region Hoops

The Stephens County Lady Indians won their second region game in a row, defeating Lanier Saturday at home 39-27.

Stephens County was led by Audresha Merritt, who scored 16 points.

However, Merritt left the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.

Amber Cesair led the Lady Longhorns with 13 points.

The Lady Indians are now 13-10 overall and the region record is 4-2.

Meanwhile, Stephens County’s boys traded the lead late with Lanier, but the Longhorns won 45-38.

Lanier was led by Peyton Smith’s 23 points.

Josh Slate led Stephens County with 11 points.

Stephens County is now 3-20 overall and 0-6 in the region.

The Indians and Lady Indians host Monroe Area Tuesday at 6 p.m.  Air time is 5:45 p.m. on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com.
