SCHS Splits with Hart Co. in Hoops

The Stephens County basketball teams leave Hartwell with a split.

Friday, the Indians and Lady Indians visited HartCounty for non-region games.

In the girls’ game, Stephens County jumped out to a 15-4 first-quarter lead and led by as many as 26 points in beating the Lady Bulldogs 48-31.

Lexie Cash led all scorers with 12 points for the Lady Indians, while Emily Mote chipped in 10 points for Stephens County.

Pervasia Craft led Hart County with five points.

Moving to the boys’ game, Stephens County was within nine early in the fourth quarter, but fell victim to cold shooting as Hart County pulled away for a 59-44 win.

Tavoris Davis had 17 points to lead the Indians, while Chris Jones added 14 points.

Wraft Rucker had 17 points to lead Hart County.

With their win, the Lady Indians are now 3-1 on the year, while the Indian boys fall to 1-3 with their loss.

Stephens County returns home on Tuesday to host RabunCounty in non-region play.
