SCHS Splits Region Basketball at Johnson H.S.

The Stephens County Indians and Lady Indians split their Varsity games last night with Johnson High in Oakwood.

In the girls game, Stephens County picked up a close 43 to 39 win.

The Lady Indians held the Lady Knights to only 6 points in the first period and never looked back as they improved their region 8-AAAA record to 3 & 4 and 8 & 15 overall while keeping Johnson winless in the region.

Kaitlan Knight led the Lady Indians with 11 points.

In the boys game, Stephens County had the lead the entire game until 12 seconds left when the Knights hit a jump shot from the corner to tie the game at 49.

After the Indians missed a shot, Johnson was fouled with 3 seconds left and hit both free throws for the 51 to 49 victory.

Stephens County was led by Deundra Singleton with 13 points and Tay Jones with 11.

Stephens County drops to 4 & 3 in the region and 16 & 7 overall.

Johnson improved to 3 & 4 in region 8-AAAA and 7 & 16 overall.

The Indians and Lady Indians will play their final regular season game this Friday at the Currahee Arena as they host North Hall on Senior Night.

The girls game will tip-off at 7 pm with airtime on AM-630 WNEG at 6:45.
