SCHS Splits in Hoops on Senior Night

On Senior Night at the Currahee Arena in Toccoa, the Stephens County High School basketball teams split a pair of Region 8-AAAA games.

In the girls’ game, Jefferson beat the Lady Indians, 56-23.

The Lady Indians kept it close early, trailing by just 10 at the half. However, Jefferson used a 7-0 run at the end of the second quarter to start to pull away, building their lead throughout the second half.

Anaiah Wilson had eight points and Tykia Thompson had seven points for the Lady Indians, who are 4-21 overall and 3-7 in region play.

Moving to the boys’ game, Stephens County beat Jefferson, 83-70.

The Indians trailed by four at the half, but used a strong third period to take control of the game.

De’Undre Singleton led four Indians in double figures with 23 poitns. Nunu Walker had 14 points, while A.J. Curry and Chaz Bridges each scored 11 points.

Stephens County’s boys are 18-6 overall now and 6-4 in region play.

Both teams will play in the Region 8-AAAA basketball tournament this week at Jefferson.
