SCHS Softball Drops Tourney Opener

Stephens County lost the first game of the AAAA state softball tournament on Thursday to Central (Carroll) by a 2-0 score in Columbus.

Emily Williams threw a no-hitter for Central, striking out 20 Lady Indians.

Only Ashton Ayers put the ball in play for Stephens County, grounding back to the pitcher, and Natalie Morgan was the only Lady Indian to reach base, getting hit by a pitch with two out in the seventh inning.

Emma Whitfield allowed two runs in her own complete game effort to take the loss.

Stephens County will play Chapel Hill in an elimination bracket game today at 1 p.m. in Columbus.
