SCHS Softball Clinches Second in Region

Stephens County High School wraps up Region 8-AAAA softball play with a win.

On Thursday, the Lady Indians got back to their winning ways, defeating North Oconee on the road by a score of 2-0.

Emma Whitfield got things started at the plate for Stephens County with a solo home run in the second inning.

Then in the third, Ashton Ayers led off with a triple and came home to score on a Karly Smith sacrifice fly.

Peyton Terrell was also 2 for 3 at the plate to help the Lady Indians.

In the circle, Whitfield pitched another complete game, allowing only two hits and striking out seven for the win.

With this win, the Lady Indians finish 8-2 in the region, securing the second seed for the region tournament.

Overall, the Lady Indians are 17-2 on the season.

Next up for Stephens County softball is a non-region game on Monday at Banks County.
