SCHS SkillsUSA Chapter Recognized

The SkilllsUSA chapter at Stephens County High School is recognized as one of the best in the nation.

At the 2016 National SkillsUSA Conference in Louisville, Kentucky earlier this year, Stephens County High School was one of just 24 chapters nationwide, and six in Georgia, to receive the “Models of Excellence” award.

Each year, SkillsUSA said it recognizes 24 of its school chapters as its very best with the “Models of Excellence” awards.

According to SkillsUSA, the awards are the pinnacle of SkillsUSA’s Chapter Excellence Program, which honors chapter achievement relative to SkillsUSA’s framework of developing personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics.

SkillsUSA representatives, along with representatives from Lowe’s, which sponsors the program, and members of the Stephens County High School chapter were on hand at last Tuesday’s Stephens County Board of Education meeting to offically unveil the award.’

With more than 13,000 school chapters, SkillsUSA serves more than 300,000 students and instructors each year.

It is a national organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations and for further education.
