SCHS Picks Up Hoops Sweep at Madison Co.

Stephens County picks up a sweep in basketball play at Madison County.

Tuesday, the Indians and Lady Indians traveled to Madison County and both teams came away with wins.

First, the Lady Indians broke a losing streak and defeated the Lady Red Raiders by a 46-40 score.

After being tied at 26 at the end of the third period, the Lady Indians hit 11 out of 16 free throws to help seal the victory.

Kentasia Trimier led all scorers with 21 points followed by Kaitlan Knight with 14.

Stephens County improves to 3-6 overall.

Then in the nightcap, the Stephens County boys improved their record to 7-2 with a 69-66 win.

The Indians led by as many as 15 points in the third period but had to hold off a 4th quarter comeback by Madison County to pick up their fifth straight win.

Stephens County was led by Nunu Walker and Tay Jones who both scored 18 points each.

Both the Indians and Lady Indians will be in action this Friday night as they travel to Rabun County.

Airtime on AM-630 WNEG will be 6:15 p.m. with tip-off for the girls’ game at 6:30 p.m., to be followed by the boys’ game.
