The Stephens County Lady Indians saw their record fall to 1-8 Saturday after they lost 31-21 to the Lady Raiders of Habersham Central High School.
Both teams suffered from cold shooting in the first half, as Habersham Central led at the half 11-6, but the scoring picked up in the second half. Habersham senior Haley Gerrin ended the game with 17 points to lead the Lady Raiders. Whitleigh Swinton had 6 points for Stephens County, while Charity Major and Mya Cleveland each had five points for the Lady Indians.
Meanwhile in the boys’ game, Stephens County hung on for a 48-40 win over the Raider boys. Habersham Central overcame a 10-point deficit in the third period and actually had a three-point lead before the Indians re-took the lead and never relinquished it again. Kamichi Fleming had 13 points for the Indians and Tomas Colbert added 10. Preston Elam led the Raiders with 16 points.
Stephens County’s boys now have a 7-2 record.
The Indians are off until Thursday evening when the Lanier Longhorns come to the Currahee Arena. Game time is 6 p.m. and air time is 5:45 p.m. on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com.
