SCHS Grad Harrison New HCHS Football Coach

A former Stephens County football standout will now lead the football program on the other side of Currahee Mountain.

According to the Northeast Georgian, the Habersham County Board of Education voted Monday night to name Benji Harrison as the new head football coach at Habersham Central High School.

Harrison is a former Stephens County High School quarterback.

For the last three years, Harrison has been the head football coach at Jackson County High School, going 12-20 in three seasons and leading the Panthers to the playoffs in both 2012 and 2013.

In 2012, Harrison led Jackson County to its first winning season since 1992.

He said he is excited about the opportunity and ready to get to work.

“I am very familiar with Habersham football,” said Harrison. “It was not wanting to leave place. It was just the opportunity to be somewhere I would really like to be at.”

Harrison replaces Michael Pollock at Habersham Central. Pollock went 1-19 in two seasons leading the Raider football program.
