The Stephens County High School football team looks back at the season that was.

Thursday, the team held its annual football banquet and awards ceremony at Stephens County High School.

Stephens County High School Head Football Coach Frank Barden said the banquet gives him a chance to thank the players for everything they put into the team over the last year.

“The change and the buying in and the character and commitment that they (showed) was reflected on the football field,” said Barden. “They were a fun team to watch and people could see how hard they worked, but you also could see their character, what they are made of and what they stand for. To see these guys do that and develop that, knowing that is what kind of young men they are going to become, is just awful fun, but it is also sad because this is the last time that this team is going to be together. Outstanding team, outstanding young men, and just a great night to honor them.”

That includes Desmond Wheeler, who received the AM 630 WNEG Player of the Year Award.
