Stephens County High School’s two Envirothon teams both return from state competition with top five finishes.
The two teams competed in the Georgia State Envirothon Competition on Wednesday.
The Red Team of Amber Mills, Brittany Grier, Connor Roberts, Taylor Pruitt, and Chris Mace took second place overall.
They were able to finish first in two of the five categories but faced stiff competition and lost to the team that finished second place in the state last year.
Meanwhile, the Black Team of Christian Roberts, Luke Nicholson, Amanda Zheng, Aidan Hartwell, and Macy Parker tied for fifth place overall in the state.
Envirothon is a competition that asks students to work with material dealing with topics involving natural resources and the environment.
The two Stephens County High School teams had advanced to the state competition after taking the top two spots in their regional competition.
Stephens County High School’s Envirothon coaches are Derek Demmler, Erin Potterf, and Paige Flores.
