SCHS Competition Cheer Heading Back to States

The Stephens County High School competition cheerleaders are headed back to the state finals later this week.

This past weekend, Stephens County finished fourth in Region 8-AAAA.

The top four from each region advance to the state finals.

North Oconee took the Region 8-AAAA competition cheer championship.

St. Pius finished second and Jefferson finished third, in front of Stephens County.

Oconee County and Madison County finished behind Stephens County.

Next up, the Stephens County High School competition cheer team will compete at 9 a.m. Friday in Columbus against 24 other AAAA teams.

The top eight from that group of 24 Friday morning will advance to Saturday’s finals, where all the top seeds from AAAA await the 16-team finals.

Last year, Stephens County placed fifth in the state, their best ever finish.
