SCHS Boys Win Sixth Straight in Basketball

The Stephens County Indian boys’ basketball team won its sixth consecutive game Tuesday night as they defeated Rabun County, 92-61, in high school basketball at the Currahee Arena in Toccoa.

Stephens County quickly jumped out to a 29-5 lead at the end of the first period and maintained a large lead throughout the game.

De’Undre Singleton led all scorers with 29 points and NuNu Walker added 17 for the Indians.

Rabun County was led by Bailey Fisher’s 21 points.

Stephens County improved to 11-3 overall while Rabun County dropped to 7-8.
In the girls’ game, Rabun County, rated fifth in Class AA, used a pressing defense to force the Lady Indians into mistakes and grabbed an early 22-8 lead at the end of the first period to cruise to a 71-37 victory.

Tykia Thompson led Stephens County with 11 points, followed by Kaitlyn Phillips with 9.

Rabun County improves to 14-1 overall, while the Lady Indians drop to 1-14.
In JV boys, Stephens County lost to Rabun County in overtime, 45-41.
The Indians and Lady Indian basketball teams will be back in action this Friday as they host Oconee County in Region 8-AAAA action at the Currahee Arena in Toccoa.

The varsity girls’ game will tip-off at 7 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow.
