SCHS Basketball Splits with Rabun Co.

The Lady Indians start the basketball season off with a road win.

Stephens County scored 20 points in the second quarter to come back from an early deficit and defeat Rabun County 49-41 in Tiger Friday night.

Rabun County led 9-3 after the first quarter, but seven different Lady Indians scored in the second quarter to outscore the Lady Wildcats 20-8 and take a halftime lead Stephens County would not relinquish.

Eight different Lady Indians scored on the night, led by Emily Mote’s 12 points.

Riley Chlupacek and Sally Woerner each had 11 points to lead Rabun County.

Meanwhile in the boys’ game, Jordan Oliver scored 27 points to lead RabunCounty to a 63-49 come-from-behind win over the Indians.

Josh Slate scored 20 points to lead Stephens County.  He hit six threes on the night.

Isaiah Mighell also scored nine points for Stephens County.

Besides the 27 points from Jordan Oliver, Rabun County got 12 points from Harry Oliver and 10 points from Austin Dinofrio.

Both the Lady Indians and Indians return home Satuday to host Habersham Central in the home opener at the Currahee Arena.

The girls will tip off at 6 p.m. and the boys will follow.
