Whitleigh Swinton’s 10 points helped the Stephens County Lady Indians defeat the Lady Longhorns of Lanier 44-26 Thursday night at the Currahee Arena.
Keocia Walker had seven points and Charity Major and Andresha Merritt each contributed six points.
The Lady Indians jumped out to a 13-8 lead after the first period and never trailed in the game.
The Lady Indians are now 2-8 on the season, while Lanier is 3-7.
Lanier’s girls were led by Shelby Threlkeld with 13 points.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ contest, Lanier took control early and came away with a 58-38 win.
The Longhorns outscored the Indians 18-4 in the second period after leading by four points at the end of the first period.
Tavoris Davis had 13 points for the Indians and Cody Helgeland added 10.
Lanier had four players in double figures, led by Trevon McSwain with 12 points.
Lanier is 6-5 on the season, while the Indian boys are now 7-3.
The Indians and Lady Indians are back in action tonight at the Currahee Arena. Game time is 6 p.m. and air time on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com is 5:45 p.m.
