SCHS Basketball Splits with Johnson

The Stephens County Lady Indians kept the Lady Knights of Johnson High School winless so far this season, cruising to a 46-20 win Friday night at the Currahee Arena. Johnson’s girls did not score in the first quarter and the Lady Indians were kept off the scoreboard in the fourth period.

Charity Major led the Lady Indians with 8 points and Keocia Walker had 7 points. Mya Cleveland and Whitleigh Swinton each had 6 points.

Sarah Williams led the Lady Knights with 7 points.

The Lady Indians are now 5-12, but 2-0 in region play.

Meanwhile, Johnson’s boys defeated the Stephens County boys 46-41. The loss was the second in a row for the Indians, who are now 11-6 and 0-2 in region play.

Tomas Colbert was the leading scorer for the Indians with 12 points. Ty Cockfield led the Knights with 14 points and Montrell McKenzie had 13.

Saturday, the Indians are at the Inferno to take on Elbert County. Tip-off for the girls’ game is 4 p.m. with boys’ action to follow. Air time is 3:45 p.m.
