SCHS Basketball Splits With Franklin Co.

The Stephens County Indian boys stage a huge comeback to extend their winning streak to four games.

Stephens County’s boys trailed by as many as 13 points in the third quarter before staging a huge run to win by 12 over Franklin County, 60-48.

Trailing 32-19 in the third quarter, Stephens County outscored the Lions 41-16 the rest of the way.

The Indians were forced to finish the game with four players for the final minute after a bench-clearing incident in the second half resulted in apparent ejections, followed by another player having to leave the game with about a minute to go.

Nunu Walker had 20 points to lead the Indians, wihle Tay Jones scored 13 and Micah Oglesby chipped in 12 points.

Phoenix Roberts scored 15 points to lead Franklin County.

The Indian boys are now 6-2 on the year, while the Lions drop to 2-7.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Indians had a two-point lead entering the fourth quarter, but Franklin County came back and won 41-34.

Stephens County led 29-27 after three, but the Lady Lions won the fourth quarter, 14-5.

Mya Cleveland had nine points to lead the Lady Indians, while Kentasia Trimier chipped in eight points.

Zyniah Kesler had 12 points to lead the Lady Lions, with Kayla Russell adding eight.

The Lady Indians are now 2-6 on the year, while Franklin County’s girls move to 8-1.

Stephens County heads back on the road Tuesday to face Madison County.
