SCHS Baseball Picks Up First Wins of Season Over Weekend

The Stephens County Indian baseball sweeps a weekend of non-region play at the Reservation in Toccoa.

On Friday, the Indians picked up their first win of the season with a 9-2 victory over Habersham Central.

A five-run sixth inning was the big one for Stephens County, with Cole Beitzel delivering the big hit with a bases loaded triple.

Dylan Simpson pitched the first four innings for the win on Friday, while Bryson Fowler finished out the game.

Then on Saturday, sophomore pitchers Chaz Bridges and Dawson Dean combined to allow just one hit as the Indians beat the Rabun County Wildcats, 3-1.

Bridges went five innings, allowing an unearned run and striking out seven.

Dean went the final two innings for the save.

Bryson Fowler and Dylan Simpson drove in runs Saturday for the Indians.

Stephens County is now 2-2 on the season.

The Indians’ scheduled game Monday with Hart Co. has been moved to Thursday due to weather.
