School Shooting in Anderson County, S.C.

A 14-year-old boy is in custody in connection with the shooting of two students and a teacher at an Anderson County, South Carolina elementary school on Wednesday.

The shooting at the school occurred at 1:44 p.m. Wednesday at Townville Elementary School on State Road in Townville.

Two students and one teacher were shot and injured on the playground behind the school, as authorities say the gunman never entered the school.

According to the Anderson County, South Carolina Sheriff’s Office, one of the students was shot in the leg, the other student was shot in the foot, and the teacher was shot in the shoulder.

WYFF-TV reported that one of those students remains in critical condition at a Greenville hospital at last report, while the other victims at the school were treated and released.

Prior to the shooting at Townville Elementary, the teen gunman’s father, 47-year-old Jeffrey Dewitt Osborne, was found shot to death on Osborne Road, which is about three miles from the school.

Classes at Townville Elementary School in Anderson County are cancelled for the rest of the week.
