School Board Approves Lawn Care Bid

The Stephens County Board of Education approves a lawn care bid for the Stephens County School System.

At a called meeting on Wednesday morning, the Stephens County Board of Education voted 4 to 1 to approve Lesley’s Lawn of Clayton to perform the lawn care for all of the school system sites.

Voting “yes” were Tony Crunkleton, Wendy Dawkins, David Fricks, and Rodney Moore. Voting “no” was Jim Bellamy.

Lesley’s was one of two bids the school system looked at for the lawn care.

The other bid was at first disqualified for not completing the bid packet and all of the needed information.

However, the Board of Education voted earlier this month in a split vote to allow that bid to be considered regardless.

At that time, Board Chair Tony Crunkleton said he felt forgetting to list equipment, as the other company did, was not enough to disqualify a bid from consideration.

He had also noted that it was the low bidder when it came to some of the sites.

However, in the end, board members chose to keep the lawn care with one company.

Also on Tuesday, the Stephens County Board of Education approved a janitorial supply bid for the school system.

That went to Pro Line Supply.
