The Stephens County Development Authority welcomes new board members and selects officers.
Tuesday’s Development Authority meeting was the first for new members Chuck Wright and Greg Roach.
Stephens County Commissioners appointed Wright to a five-year term on the Development Authority board last month.
Meanwhile, Roach is beginning a one-year term on the Development Authority board that goes along with his position as Chairman of the Board for the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce.
Brian Akin also began his five-year term on the Development Authority board on Tuesday.
Akin was also appointed by county commissioners last month.
He had already served for the last year on the Development Authority board as last year’s Chamber Board Chair.
Along with welcoming new members, the Development Authority appointed its officers.
Stephens County Commission Chair Dean Scarborough will serve as Development Authority Board Chair.
Meanwhile, Roach will serve as Vice-Chair, Akin will serve as Treasurer, Toccoa Mayor Gail Fry will serve as Secretary, and Wright will serve as Assistant Secretary.
The Development Authority also unanimously approved its budget for Fiscal Year 2015.
The total budget for the Fiscal Year that officially started on July 1 for the Development Authority is $227,600.
During the budget presentation, Scarborough said that around $65,000 was cut in the salary and compensation line item from the Fiscal Year 2014 budget.
Scarborough also told the Development Authority board that it may need to re-visit the budget in January because of the amount of cuts in the budget.
