Sage Purchases Italian Company

A company with Stephens County connections has purchased another firm.

GSA Business reported recently on its website that Sage Automotive Interiors has acquired Miko SRL.

According to that report, Miko SRL is an Italian maker of suede-like automotive interior fabrics.

The report said financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sage CEO Dirk Pieper told GSA Business that Miko’s production of the plastic polymer Dinamica is a “natural fit” for a Sage expansion.

GSA Business described Dinamica as being made from recycled polyester using a water-based manufacturing process that does not involve harmful chemical solvents.

Pieper said in the report that Dinamica has a strong reputation in the marketplace where a premium or luxurious feel is desired.

GSA Business said Sage has reported that the acquisition of Miko will not affect jobs in the United States.

Sage Automotive Interiors develops and manufactures automotive body cloth that is used in seating, door panel surfaces, and headliners.

It formed in 2009 when Azalea Capital of Greenville completed its acquisition of Milliken and Company’s automotive body cloth division.

Last year, Clearlake Capital Group purchased Sage for an undisclosed sum from the Gores Group.

Sage has a location on Highway 17 in Stephens County, between Toccoa and Martin.
