A Martin man is expected to find out today whether he will be officially named as the new City Manager in Royston.

The Royston City Council will meet in a called session today to formally vote to hire their only finalist for the job of City Manager.

Previously, the Royston City Council announced they had chosen Edward Andrews of Martin out of a pool of about 20 applicants.

The city of Royston has been without a city manager since March when its former city manager, Greg Scott, resigned to take a job with the U.S. Air National Guard in Florida.

Royston Mayor David Jordan said Andrews has the qualifications that the Royston City Council has been looking for.

Jordan went on to say that the Royston City Council was also impressed with Andrews’ experience and the fact that Andrews is a veteran.

Andrews is retired from the Georgia Army National Guard.
