Rookie League All-Star Tourney Held

The first round of Little League baseball and softball tournaments is complete, with more district tournaments scheduled for later this month.

Toccoa’s Rookie League baseball and softball All-Stars, along with the Toccoa Sandlot baseball 9 and under All-Stars participated in district tournament play in Hartwell last week.

First in softball, the Toccoa All-Stars defeated Hart in their first game, before losing to Franklin County in their second game of the double-elimination tournament.

Toccoa’s softball All-Stars were then eliminated by Hart County in a rematch by a score of 11-7.

Moving to rookie baseball, Toccoa lost its first game to Hart in the double-elimination tournament.

However, Toccoa bounced back to beat Habersham, 15-3.

The Toccoa Rookie League baseball All-Stars then beat Hart 10-5 to move into the championship against Franklin.

Toccoa had to beat Franklin twice to win the title and won the first game, 11-8.

However, Franklin beat Toccoa 15-8 in the final game to win the district title.

Finally in sandlot baseball, Habersham beat Toccoa in two games to win the district title.

Other district Little League tournaments get underway starting in late June.
