Region 8-AAAA Basketball Tournaments Start Today

The Stephens County Indian and Lady Indian basketball teams enter post-season play this week.

Both teams are taking part in the Region 8-AAAA basketball tournaments at Johnson High School in Gainesville.

The Lady Indians will get started first, playing later today.

Stephens County’s Lady Indians are seeded third in the region after compiling a 6-2 region record.

Waiting for the Lady Indians in the first round of the region tournament is Lumpkin County, who finished as the sixth seed in the region.

Stephens County’s girls beat Lumpkin County twice this year, including just last Thursday at home in a region game, 33-22.

Today’s Stephens County-Lumpkin County game will tip off at 4 p.m. Airtime on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com will be 3:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Indian boys’ basketball team will tip off play in the Region 8-AAAA tournament tomorrow night against Chestatee. That game will also be heard on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com.
