Rave Party in Franklin Co. Leads To Arrests

Dozens of underage teens from four counties are facing charges after Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies busted a Rave party over the weekend.

For the uninitiated, a rave is an all night party, usually involving dancing with live music and they usually take place in venues like an abandoned warehouse, barn or in this case a workshop.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said the teens came from Franklin, Hart, Stephens and Elbert counties, but Thomas said it wasn’t the party itself that got the young people in trouble.

“On Friday night, the Franklin County Sheriff’s office, Georgia State Patrol and the Drug Task Force responded to a report of a party,” Thomas said. “Upon arrival, it was found that there was approximately 40-45 underage teenagers that were there. 31 of these were arrested for underage drinking of alcohol. They were taken to the Franklin County Sheriff’s office where their parents were called and they were released into the custody of their legal guardians.”

Thomas said the youngest teen was just 13 years old. In addition to the alcohol, Thomas said deputies also found drugs.

“There were also drugs, cocaine, and mushrooms found at the party,” Thomas said. “The landowner was not there, they were on vacation, but there was a person of interest there that was over this party. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office has an investigation ongoing and they are expecting more arrests to be made.”

The name of the adult has not been released. All of the teens were underage and will be charged in juvenile court.

Because they are minors, they’re names will not be released.
