One man dies and another is charged with murder after a stabbing on Friday.

Friday afternoon, between 4 and 4:30 p.m., the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office says it responded to Joe Speed Road, which is off of Warwoman Road, in reference to a possible stabbing.

Upon arrival, Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Gerald Johnson says that deputies observed a man identified as 47 year old Alden Leeland Hass (hAHss) of South Carolina.

“The victim had collapsed at a neighbor’s residence, asking for the neighbor to call 9-1-1 because he had been stabbed,” said Johnson. “It appeared that the victim had suffered two stab wounds.”

The victim was taken to Mountain Lakes Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at just before 6:30 p.m.

After a manhunt, the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with search dogs from Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, arrested a man identified as 51 year old William Edward Owen of Clayton.

Owen is charged with murder and is currently being held in the Rabun County Detention Center without bond.
