Prescribed Burn Set for Friday in Lake Russell WMA

Forest Service officials said they will conduct a controlled burn today in northeast Georgia.

The burn will be in the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area.

According to the Forest Service, crews will look to burn about 1,400 acres near the check-in station of the WMA.

That is located east of Cornelia and Mt. Airy and southwest of Toccoa.

The burn is expected to last through about 5 p.m. today.
