Prayer Vigil Held in Downtown Toccoa

A community comes together to pray.

Thursday night, Stephens County residents joined local pastors in a prayer vigil in downtown Toccoa for the nation and for the community.

Stephens County Commission Chair Dennis Bell called for the event earlier this month in light of events that have taken place across the nation.

Bell said he appreciates the support the community showed by coming out.

“It was a total blessing for our community to have the men and women of God come up and preach and pray the way they did,” said Bell. “I am kind of speechless because of the way it happened. I am very proud of our community. We are standing as one and we are uniting together as we should and I hope the rest of the country will follow us. We have to unite and get together as one to make a difference.”

Bell said he appreciates all of the pastors who attended and everyone else who helped make the event happen.

He went on to say that he wants to have another prayer vigil later this year.
