Power Outage Thursday Morning, But Few Other Problems in Toccoa

It is a little warmer in downtown Toccoa this morning, but it is still cold.

That is after temperatures Thursday morning got down to 12 degrees in the downtown area.

City of Toccoa officials said they had no problems with any water or utility lines on Thursday.

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse said that the city ran double garbage routes on Thursday to get crews back in from the streets sooner.

Meanwhile, Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey said everything went fairly smoothly on Thursday morning.

Dorsey said a couple of buses did run a little late, but adds that there were no major problems.

There was one major problem for a number of Georgia Power customers in Toccoa Thursday morning as the company’s website says a tree issue caused a power outage in the Mize Road, South Broad Street, Pond Street, and Elberton Street areas that at one point knocked power out to more than 1,000 people.

All power was restored by mid to late morning, according to the Georgia Power website.

Both Georgia Power and Hart EMC are reporting no outages this morning.
