Paper Absentee Ballots Available for Toccoa, Martin Voters

Stephens County election officials say that people can now request paper absentee ballots for the municipal elections in both Toccoa and Martin.

To request a paper, mail-in absentee ballot, voters should contact the Stephens County Registrar and Probate Court’s Office.

That office is located in the ground floor of the Stephens County Government Building in downtown Toccoa.

Voters can also contact the Registrar’s Office at 706-886-8954.

Any registered voter in Toccoa or Martin may request a paper ballot to vote in the election.

Election officials note that elderly or disabled voters that have requested a paper absentee ballot in previous elections must file a new request in this election in order to vote via the paper, mail-in ballot.

Requests for paper absentee ballots must be received by October 30 since that is the last day election officials can mail out a paper ballot.

All paper absentee ballots must be returned to the Registrar and Probate Court’s Office by 7 p.m. on Election Night, November 3.

This Fall, voters in the city limits of Toccoa and Martin are heading to the polls.

In Toccoa, voters are casting ballots on whether or not to allow Sunday alcohol sales by the drink.

Meanwhile in Martin, voters are choosing two council members.

Incumbents Mark Gearhart and Harold Alexander are running in Martin, as is challenger Diane Yow Cole.

Early voting for both the Toccoa and Martin municipal elections is underway now and runs through October 30 downstairs in the ground floor of the Government Building.

Hours for early voting are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
