One Killed in Habersham Co. Wreck Monday

Authorities said that a fatal motor vehicle accident Monday in Habersham County took the life of a Toccoa man.

According to the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol, 64-year-old Paul Jonathan Tubbs of Toccoa was killed in the accident on Georgia Highway 365 South Monday morning.

It occurred at about 6:08 a.m. on Monday, about one-tenth of a mile north of Crane Mill Road on Ga. Hwy. 365. That is in the southern part of Habersham County, near the Hall County line.

The Georgia State Patrol said Tubbs was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger headed southbound on Ga. Hwy. 365 in the left lane when the vehicle crossed over the median side of the roadway.

Troopers said Tubbs overcorrected the vehicle back to the right and began losing control of the vehicle, at which point he overcorrected back to the left.

According to the GSP, the Ford Ranger then overturned and ejected Tubbs, who was not wearing a seatbelt.

Tubbs was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
