One Injured in Friday Wreck

June 25, 2013

Authorities said Monday an accident involving an ATV last Friday in Stephens County left one person injured.

According to the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol, 18-year-old Zachary Scott Sheriff of Toccoa was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital after he fell out of the John Deere ‘Gator’ he was riding in.

The GSP reported that Sheriff was riding in a ‘Gator’ being driven by 29-year-old Dustin Allen Sertain of Martin.

Authorities said that Sertain was driving on the shoulder of Anderson Road last Friday at about 1 p.m. when he pulled out and attempted to negotiate a curve in the area of Long Circle, at which point Sheriff fell out of the ‘Gator’ and reportedly struck his head.

At last report, Greenville Memorial Hospital officials said that Sheriff is in fair condition.

Troopers reported that they charged Sertain with reckless driving, driving with no insurance, and driving while license suspended or revoked.
