One Arrested, Two Sought in Stephens Co. Burglary

December 18, 2012

One person faces charges and two others are being sought in connection with a burglary earlier this month in Stephens County.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, the burglary occurred on December 4 at a residence on Trestle Ridge Road.

“After meeting with the property owner, it was discovered that two floor safes were stolen that contained jewelry and cash,” said Shirley. “As a result of some leads that our investigators were able to follow through with, an arrest was made and a confession was obtained.”

Authorities have identified the person arrested as 33-year-old Samantha Elliott of Commerce.

Shirley said she has been charged with one count of burglary in the first degree and one count of criminal conspiracy. According to the sheriff, she is in the Stephens County Jail without bond on the burglary charge and a $5,000 bond on the conspiracy charge.

The investigation into the case does continue.

The sheriff went on to say that investigators are actively looking for two other unidentified individuals from the metropolitan Atlanta area in connection with the case.

Shirley also said that the property has not yet been recovered.
