One Arrested for Church Burglary

March 27, 2013

A Toccoa man faces charges after allegedly stealing from a local church.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that the incidents occurred at Christ Fellowship Church in Toccoa.

According to Shirley, someone at the church reported the incident last Friday.

β€œ(The church) actually had two speakers stolen on separate occasions,” said Shirley. β€œHe (the person who reported it) indicated that he actually did not see the person take it, but gave us a description of an individual that was there and left and once my deputies got there, this individual came back and he had both speakers in the back of his SUV.”

Shirley said that authorities arrested 23-year-old Eric Wright Farmer of Toccoa and charged him with two counts of Second Degree Burglary and a Probation Violation.

Both of the sound speakers, which were valued at about $1300 each, were recovered and returned to the church. However, Shirley says that one of them was damaged during the burglary.

Shirley said that at last report, Farmer remained in the Stephens County Detention Center.
