One Arrested for Burglary in Stephens Co.

A Stephens County resident is under arrest after he was allegedly caught in the act of burglarizing a local home.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that his office arrested 23-year-old Hank Allen Bohannon of Toccoa on October 20 and charged him with one count of Burglary.

Shirley said the arrest comes after deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress.

The sheriff said that deputies went to a residence on Christine Circle after the homeowners returned home and heard someone in the crawl space of their residence.

“Once deputies confronted the suspect, he said he was there to do repairs,” said Shirley.  “As it turned out, Mr. Bohannon’s story did not add up.  A subsequent search of him found personal belongings of the homeowner on Mr. Bohannon and a broken window to the residence.”

Shirley said that Bohannon remained in the Stephens County Jail at last report.

The sheriff went on to say that all property was returned to the owners.
