Officials Respond to Two Fires Over Weekend

February 13, 2013

Officials said Tuesday that a fire at a home on Avon Street appears to have started in a back bedroom.

Both Toccoa Fire stations responded to the fire Friday afternoon, according to Toccoa Fire Chief Tommy Ayers.

Chief Ayers said that the house suffered heavy damage in the blaze, but nobody was hurt.

According to Ayers, the cause was unable to be determined.

Elsewhere, a fire was reported over the weekend on East Silver Shoals Road.

Officials said that Big Smith, Martin, and Eastanollee Volunteer Fire Departments all responded to that fire call.
