Nobody Hurt in Tuesday Afternoon Fire

Nobody was hurt in a house fire Tuesday in Toccoa.

Crews from the Toccoa and Carnes Creek Fire Departments responded to a home on Cedar Lane Tuesday afternoon in response to a house fire.

The fire caused significant damage to the home.

Toccoa Fire Chief Tommy Ayers said the wind caused challenges for firefighters on the scene Tuesday.

He said the high winds caused the fire to spread briefly to a wooded area nearby.

Also, Ayers said a house next door received heat damage as a result of the fire.

He said crews had the fire under control by the late afternoon and early evening hours Tuesday.

There is no word at this time on what caused the blaze.
