July 29, 2014

Nobody was hurt in a structure fire Monday afternoon in Toccoa.

Crews were called to the scene on South Pond Street in Toccoa during the 3 p.m. hour Monday.

Toccoa Fire Chief Tommy Ayers said that nobody was home when the fire started.

Ayers said investigators believe that the fire started in the attic of the home.

He said at this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation.

Both Toccoa stations responded to the fire, as did the Carnes Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Crews had cleared the scene of the fire by the early evening hours on Monday.
