No One Hurt in Ga. 365 Truck Fire

Nobody is hurt after a truck catches on fire along a Stephens County highway.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said it occurred Wednesday afternoon on Georgia Highway 365 near Rock Road.

That is near the Stephens County-Habersham County line.

Carnes Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jody Marcus said crews from his department responded and quickly put out the fire.

Marcus said it is unclear as to what started the fire.

He said the driver reported that as he was driving towards Habersham County the truck lost power and then caught on fire.

Marcus said the driver was able to pull the vehicle off of the road and get out.

The fire did affect traffic on Georgia Highway 365 in that area for a time, as that stretch of the road was closed while crews worked.

Responding along with the Carnes Creek Volunteer Fire Department were the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol.
