A judge denies bond to the man charged in the death of a Franklin County woman.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas, Brent Shubert appeared before the Franklin County Magistrate Judge Wednesday afternoon with his attorney present and was ordered to be held without bond.

The case will now head to Franklin County Superior Court.

Shubert is charged in the death of 33-year old Bonny Anne Cooner of Canon.

Cooner’s body was found Saturday in an abandoned well in Canon, two weeks after she went missing from the home she shared with her son and Shubert.

On Monday, Georgia Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Kris Sperry confirmed the remains found in the well Saturday were that of Cooner and declared the cause of death as strangulation with blunt head trauma.

Shubert was arrested in Anderson, South Carolina just hours after Cooner’s body was found.

He was returned to Franklin County Monday morning.

At this time, Shubert is charged with malice murder, aggravated assault and concealing a death.

Thomas says Shubert is not cooperating with investigators.
