Nifco KTW Project Recognized Again

Stephens County and Nifco KTW receive yet another recognition from a national publication.

Area Development magazine recently honored Georgia with a “Silver Shovel” award for economic development for states its size.

As part of that, the magazine listed the Nifco KTW project in Stephens County as one of the top 10 projects in Georgia last year.

According to Stephens County Development Authority Executive Director Tim Martin, Area Development is a well-renowned magazine.

Martin said it is great to be recognized as one of the top projects in the state by this publication.

“It is an honor to be recognized in significant publications as this, be recognized by those experts across the United States,” said Martin. “We are very, very honored to be included among those other wonderful projects here in the state of Georgia.”

Martin also credited the leadership of the Development Authority, as well as the leadership and support the agency receives from the city of Toccoa and Stephens County government.

This is not the first award that the Nifco KTW project or the Stephens County Development Authority has received.

In May, Site Selection magazine presented the Stephens County Development Authority with the Mac Conway Award for Excellence in Economic Development as one of the Top 10 Micropolitan Economic Development Agencies of 2015.

Also, the Georgia Economic Developers Association recognized the Stephens County Development Authority last November with its “Deal of the Year” award for small communities for the agreement that was put together to bring Nifco KTW to Stephens County.

Nifco KTW is a German-based automotive parts supplier currently constructing a U.S. facility in the Hayestone-Brady Business Park on Highway 17.

The company received its Certificate of Occupancy for the building earlier this month and production is expected to begin in the building this Fall, according to Martin.
