North Georgia Technical College’s Currahee Campus holds an emergency drill for training purposes.

The school held the drill on Tuesday.

Several law enforcement and emergency response agencies were involved in the drill.

The scenario was a single active shooter entering the school, with police and emergency personnel responding as if it were the real thing.

Police and Sheriffs Office personnel from Stephens County and Franklin County and state agencies like GEMA were all involved.

Victims with fake injuries were transported to St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital and Stephens County Hospital to see how the hospital staff would handle a similar situation.

North Georgia Technical College Spokesperson Amy Hulsey said the drill was very successful.

Hulsey went on to say that the drill was a real confidence boost for the staff of the college.

She said the staff now knows that emergency responders are well prepared for an emergency such as this.

A similar drill was conducted at the Clarkesville campus Wednesday and will be conducted at the Blairsville campus on Friday.
