NGTC Foundation Receives Donation From Church

A north Georgia church makes a large donation to the North Georgia Technical College Foundation.

Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris recently donated $5,202.37 from its annual rummage sale to the North Georgia Tech Foundation.

According to Foundation Director Cynthia Brown, the funds will be used to provide scholarships for tuition, books and fees for North Georgia Technical College students from Towns County with demonstrated financial need.

Also, a portion of the donation will be used to cover GED administrative testing fees for Towns County students needing financial assistance.

Brown said the foundation is grateful for this donation for its college students, adding that donors like this make it possible for students to start or continue their education, graduate and go to work, changing their lives, their families’ lives, and their community as well.

The Missions Committee of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church has made annual donations to the North Georgia Technical College Foundation since 2010.

Since August 2009, the NGTC Foundation has provided 1,771 students scholarships totaling $514,650 and GED Testing scholarships have been awarded to 704 applicants at a cost of $62,827.

Also, the Foundation’s Lending Library has provided 729 students with $94,920 worth of books that are used for a semester, returned to the library and checked out to other students for the next session.

The North Georgia Technical College Foundation is a 501C3 non-profit organization and all funds come from donations.
