NGTC Announces GOAL, Scholarship Winners

A Jefferson resident is North Georgia Technical College’s GOAL award winner for 2015.

Recently, the school announced that Georgia Zumwalt of Jefferson received the honor.

GOAL, or Georgia Occupational Award for Leadership, is a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia that honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical colleges.

Local GOAL winners are selected at each of the state’s 25 technical colleges who then compete for the state honor.

GOAL candidates are nominated by an instructor and must carry at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate strong work ethics and leadership skills.

Zumwalt was selected out of a group of 12 initial semi-finalists from North Georgia Tech.

As North Georgia Tech’s GOAL winner, Zumwalt will now advance to represent the school at the region level in March at Lanier Technical College’s Forsyth County campus.

Meanwhile, the school has also announced that Makayla Stewart of Clarkesville is the winner of this year’s North Georgia Technical College Foundation Marlowe-Evans GOAL Scholarship.

Stewart is a Pharmacy Technology student and is the 10th recipient of the scholarship.

The Scholarship was founded in 2005 by Jim Marlowe and Bob Evans and is given to one of the 12 GOAL semi-finalists at North Georgia Technical College who exemplifies the spirit of Bob Evans and Jim Marlowe through their community service and willingness to help others.
